Rome is the capital of Italy and dates back to at least the eighth century BC.  You’ll visit the Colosseum, where up to fifty thousand spectators watched gladiatorial contests during the height of the Roman empire.  You’ll also visit the Vatican City, the smallest independent state in the world, before having free time to visit the attractions of your choice.
