Studying abroad is about broadening your mind, thinking and living outside of
your normal environment. It is about immersing yourself in the culture of a
foreign country during the period of your life when you are most focused on
your education and creating a foundation for your future.
In the study abroad world today, you are often forced to choose between an
immersion course and a study tour, a short-term tour operated like an
educational vacation.
At SIIP, we believe that immersion is essential to getting the most
out of your time abroad. You need to spend enough time and be involved in a
culture in order to get more than a superficial feel for the place you have
visited.
But, we also see the positive side of study tours. You get the opportunity to
learn in an exciting, interesting atmosphere, cover more ground, and spend
social time with your peers discussing and sharing your experiences.
For this reason, SIIP offers Cultural Tours to its students who are studying
abroad in our immersion programs. Cultural tours are side trips, included in
the cost of your immersion program, which we sponsor during your time abroad.
What this means to you is that you will have the opportunity to travel with us
to three destinations (one destination if your program is less than eight weeks
long). One of these destinations will be outside of the country in which you
are studying. You will travel with a group of your peers and may have the
opportunity to spend time with students who are participating in SIIP immersion
programs in other locations.
We are dedicated to providing diverse, exciting, and interesting destinations,
and will keep thinking creatively about how you can get the most out of your
time abroad.
