Billing, Refunds and Withdrawals

Billing

The cost of your program is outlined online at www.siip.com/programs.aspx. The terms and conditions outlined there are included in this agreement by reference.  SIIP guarantees the price that is posted on-line when your complete Application is received.  This price is listed in US dollars.  The costs for additional expenses may vary as exchange rates fluctuate.

You will pay four fees to SIIP.  These are defined in the table below.  Each program is separate, so if you want to attend two different Programs, you will expect to pay eight different fees to SIIP.  The exception is that academic year Programs are billed as follows: one Application fee; one Deposit fee; two Balance fees; one SIIP insurance fee.

Item Is the item refundable? Due date
Application Fee ($60) Never refundable SIIP will not consider your Application without an Application Fee.
Deposit Fee ($500) Rarely (see Refunds below) Deposit is due thirty days after the date we mail your acceptance letter, or on the withdrawal date, which ever is earlier.
Balance (varies by program) Rarely (see Refunds below) The withdrawal date for that Program.  Balance fees may be deferred in accordance with our financial aid policy.
SIIP Insurance Fee (varies by Program) Never refundable Two weeks before start-date of Program.

SIIP accepts checks and money orders, denominated in US dollars, and drawn on a US bank; cash in US dollars, only at SIIP’s office in Saint Petersburg, Florida; and, credit cards.  If any refund is due, it will be issued by check, unless you paid that portion by credit card, in which case it will be refunded to that card.

If you pay by check and your check is not honored, we will charge you $35 or the maximum amount allowed by law, whichever is smaller.

Refunds

The Deposit Fee and Balance are refundable in the following cases, and only in these cases:

(a) the program is cancelled for any reason by SIIP, and a similar program is not offered in its place,

(b) you cannot attend the program because you die before travel,

(c) you cannot attend the program because your natural parent(s), your legal guardian(s), your spouse, or your natural child(ren) die between the date you apply and the start of the Program, and you send us documentation of this, or

(d) you apply for and receive a refund using our Appeal for Refund form.

Appeal for Refund forms will be adjudicated by SIIP staff, and there is no subsequent appeal process.  No refund will be made for health conditions that were pre-existing at the time of application or for economic hardship that could have been predicted by a reasonable person; and, in many cases, no refund or only a partial refund will be made.  SIIP does not guarantee that refunds will be issued except according to items (a), (b) and (c) above.

Late payment schedule

Late payments will be penalized according to the following schedule:

Past due Late fee
1-14 days 1% and possible dismissal from Program without refund; your transcript will not be released until payment is made in full.
15-30 days 1.5% and possible dismissal from Program without refund; your transcript will not be released until payment is made in full.
31-60 days 3% and possible dismissal from Program without refund; your transcript will not be released until payment is made in full.
More than 60 days 4.5% and possible dismissal from Program without refund; your transcript will not be released until payment is made in full.

After 61 days we will assign your debt to a collection agency.  This collection agency may assess additional collection fees to you.  These will be payable in addition to the charges due to SIIP.  Should you owe money for damage, fines, or for any other item to the Host University at the end of your time on the Program, SIIP may help the Host University to collect these funds by providing another copy of your Application, and providing the Host University with updates of your address(es) and phone number(s).  SIIP will not release your transcript until you have paid your charges in full.

Withdrawal

If you decide to withdraw from the program, you must do one of the following:

(a) send a signed fax to SIIP, giving your information and stating that you would like to withdraw,

(b) send a letter to SIIP at the address in Section J, stating that you would like to withdraw, or

(c) send an email to admin@siip.com from your email account with subject line “withdrawal”

If you withdraw from the program by letter, the date the letter is received by SIIP is your date of withdrawal.  If you send a fax or email, your date of withdrawal will be the date you send the fax or email.  If your date of withdrawal is after the Withdrawal Date for that program, the remainder of the cost (the Balance) will be due to SIIP, and refunds will only be permitted as described in Article 11.
